The Academia Matritense del Notariado and the Fundación Seminario de Derecho Romano Ursicino Álvarez will hold the eleventh edition of the Premio Internacional Ursicino Álvarez (Ursicino Álvarez International Prize) on Monday, 16 November 2026, at 19:00, at the Ilustre Colegio Notarial de Madrid, Spain.
This year's edition will honour two distinguished Italian scholars for their contributions to Roman law and legal scholarship:
- Prof. Aldo Schiavone – Universities of Florence and Rome La Sapienza, and Director of Scriptores iuris romani.
- Prof. Giuseppe Valditara – University of Turin, and Italian Minister of Education and Merit.
Established in 2007 to commemorate the centenary of the birth of Ursicino Álvarez Suárez (1907–1980), the International Prize recognises distinguished jurists whose scholarly work places Roman law at its centre. Over successive editions, the award has celebrated leading figures in Roman law scholarship, reflecting the enduring significance of the Roman legal tradition and its contribution to European legal culture.
The ceremony will take place at the Ilustre Colegio Notarial de Madrid, Calle Juan de Mena 9, 28014 Madrid, Spain.
Attendees are kindly requested to confirm their participation by contacting the organisers at academia@madrid.notariado.org.
