About the DIOGENES Networking Group

The DIOGENES project assumes the creation of an international networking group for doctoral students and young post-docs operating in a virtual environment. Its basic tool is to be a database grouping legal historians.

 

About the Kick-off Meeting 2023

An event is planned to officially inaugurate the activities of the DIOGENES networking group on October 12-13, 2023, in Krakow. The two-day event will create an opportunity for Ph.D. students, and early postdocs (DIOGENES target group) as well as more experienced researchers to participate in attractive workshops and international discussion panels.

 

About the Workshops

I.        Publish or Perish in Legal History. Part 1 – How to Write a Monograph? Part 2 – How and Where to Publish?

The editors-in-chief of prestigious publishing series and magazines will present the effective secrets of academic writing at the highest level.

Keynote Speakers: Prof. Dr. Hans-Peter Haferkamp (Köln), Prof. Dorota Malec (Krakow), Prof. Dr. Peter Oestmann (Münster), Prof. Agustín Parise (Maastricht), Prof. Heikki Pihlajamäki (Helsinki).

  

II.        Legal History beyond the Atlantic Ocean. Part 1 – Fellowships. Part 2 – Scientific Career.

These workshops will present the experiences in obtaining fellowships, and certain realities of studying the history of law overseas.

Keynote Speakers: Prof. Gregory Ablavsky (Stanford), Prof. Piotr Górecki (Riverside), Prof. Tomáš Gábriš (Trnava).

III.        Archival Law and Research on Legal History

Can archival law effectively hinder research into the recent (and not only) history   

of law? Representatives of several European research centers will answer these questions.

Keynote Speakers: Prof. Dr. Adrian Schmidt-Recla (Jena), Dr. Tadas Valančius (Vilnius).

 

IV.        Legal History and The European Research Council (ERC)

Prominent researchers, recognized as ‘Principal Investigators” by the ERC, will present behind-the-scenes aspects of applying for and implementing ERC grants in the field of legal history.

Keynote Speakers: Prof. Dr. Phillip Hellwege (Augsburg), Prof. Dr. Ulrike Müßig (Passau), Prof. Beatrice Pasciuta (Palermo).
