Max Planck Law is looking to recruit a Research Coordinator (m/f/div) to be based in Frankfurt am Main, starting as soon as possible.
Max Planck Law is a network of the ten Max Planck Institutes engaged in advanced legal research. This network of 20 directors and 400 researchers brings together outstanding teams covering a wide spectrum of research areas, such as international law, criminal law, or the anthropology of law. Our aim is to further the collaboration between these Institutes and to increase both the visibility and the reception of our research results worldwide.
Max Planck Law is based at the Max Planck Institute for Legal Theory and Legal History, located on one of Europe’s most beautiful university campuses – the Campus Westend in the heart of Frankfurt am Main, a cosmopolitan city with a rich and diverse culture.
Max Planck Law is a member of the Max Planck Society, one of the most prestigious and successful research organizations worldwide, which since its foundation in 1948 has counted 29 Nobel laureates among its scientists. The Max Planck Society conducts fundamental research at the highest level in the areas of natural sciences, life sciences, social sciences and humanities. The 86 affiliated Institutes, some of which are located outside Germany, focus on research areas of a particular innovative nature that require specific infrastructures.
The Max Planck Law network is managed by staff members of the Max Planck Institute for Legal Theory and Legal History in Frankfurt am Main and the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Crime, Security and Law in Freiburg.
TASKS
You will:
- support the development of the network’s strategic direction and further evolution coordinate the network and its projects
- further strengthen the network of the Max Planck Institutes involved and maintain regular contact with the respective research coordinators and press officers as well as with the Administrative Headquarters of the Max Planck Society
- plan and organise workshops, seminars, and other events develop and manage the graduate programme
- organize the Fellowship Programme and support the Fellows accompany the network’s academic and scholarly initiatives coordinate the network’s academic exchange programme
- coordinate and implement the successful evaluations of the project and manage its transition to permanent status
- represent Max Planck Law in an international research context be responsible for Public Relations
PROFILE
You bring to the position:
- a successfully completed doctoral degree in law or in another field of the humanities or social sciences
- international experience, preferably gained through completion of a degree abroad
- professional experience in research coordination and management, particularly in project management
- the ability to quickly familiarize yourself with a diverse and challenging range of topics, combined with a high degree of initiative and a strong sense of responsibility
- the ability to work in a team, very good interpersonal and communication skills, and intercultural competence
- above-average organizational skills and flexibility
- excellent knowledge of German and English
- a willingness to travel to events and meetings outside Frankfurt
Prior familiarity with Max Planck Law or work experience in the Max Planck Society are an advantage.
OFFER
Max Planck offers a varied and challenging position in an attractive and international work environment with a good working atmosphere. The position is full-time (currently 39 hours / week); it can in principle be shared by two employees. Remuneration and social benefits are based on the German Civil Service Collective Agreement (TVöD Bund), pay category 13. Depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience, the annual salary before tax will be on a scale from EUR 52,000 to EUR 76,000 for a full-time position. The salary includes all mandatory social insurance contributions for health care, long-term care, unemployment, and retirement. The position is initially project-based and limited until 31 May 2024. A follow-up position is intended but conditional on the positive evaluation of the development phase of the project. The place of employment is Frankfurt am Main.
